For bench upgrades and defensive charms, shells are one of the most important resources to collect in LEGO Fortnite. You might think to look for them around beaches or in the water, but you want to be looking towards the rocks instead.

Where to Find a Shell in LEGO Fortnite

You can get shells by killing Rollers in the Grasslands biome or by looting llama pinatas that randomly appear in the open world. I found my first shell by following a rainbow butterfly to a hidden pinata, but these loot caches don’t always have the same resources. Instead, you are much better off hunting for Rollers.

How to Find Shells:

  • Search the Grasslands for Rollers.
  • Look for Llama Pinatas to loot.
  • Search caves for rare chests and Rollers.

Caves can also net you some shells if you get the right enemies to attack you or the chests inside happen to have some rare loot. But I would suggest staying in the Grasslands for standard shells. A rare shell won’t count toward your recipes or upgrades because they count as something different entirely. So stick to the same biome early on.

How to Find and Beat Rollers in LEGO Fortnite

Rollers can be found by looking for small rocks that have sprouts on top of them in the Grasslands biome. Any time you see one of those sprouts, it’s guaranteed to be one of the crab-like enemies. When you get close enough, it jumps out of the ground and will start to pursue you. This is where you need to prepare for dodges.

The roller will typically start with a rolling attack that you can avoid. Then it will follow up with a claw attack if you get close or a rock attack from range if you keep your distance. Just look for an opening after each dodge for some easy damage.

You can also find Rollers in caves at a fairly consistent rate. If you get sick of them running away in the open world, cave delving isn’t a bad alternative and you can get plenty of additional loot in the process.

While you’re searching caves, you might even get to collect some Knotroot for more upgrades in LEGO Fortnite.
