How to Get Mothim in Pokemon GO

Quite a few colorful Pokemon are making their appearance during the Festival of Color, which will run from March 8 to March 11, 2023. Chief among these is Burmy and all its vibrant forms. And with Burmy comes the potential of Mothim.

Burmy is a bagworm Pokemon with three distinct “cloaks” it drapes over its mysterious body. This is the Plant, Sandy, and Trash cloak. In general, finding a specific type of cloaked Burmy can be difficult as they tend to spawn in biomes that match what they dress themselves in.

Sandy Burmy are usually at beaches or in deserts, Trash Burmy are usually in urban centers, and Plant Burmy are usually in forests, meadows, or parks. These cloaks will influence what type of Wormadam a Burmy can evolve into.

But how do you stop your Burmy from evolving into a Wormadom? Easy, you make sure you’re not evolving a female Burmy. All female Burmy will evolve into Wormadam and all male Burmy will evolve into Mothim.

And to evolve Burmy at all, you’ll need 50 Burmy candy. Considering you’ll get quite a few candy just from catching Burmy, you’ll have enough candy in no time at all, especially if you’re taking advantage of the Festival of Color event.

And if you evolve a Burmy into Mothim during the event, you’ll even complete a Compleition Challenge, which will grant you 2,000 EXP and a Lure Module. And if you’re wondering, yes, it’s possible to find a Shiny Burmy and thus also obtain a Shiny Mothim!
