How to Get Mandrake in Hogwarts Legacy

Nothing like having a small, screaming creature near you at all times

When you think of combat in Hogwarts Legacy, using magic is usually the first thing that comes to mind. By blasting spells at enemies, you can wipe out an entire crowd in no time at all. However, if you want a bit of fun, you can also use combat items like chomping cabbage, Venomous Tentacula, and, of course, the mandrake. Mandrakes are also a quest item you’ll encounter as you progress through your Herbology class assignments, so it’s helpful to figure out where to find some! The easiest way to get mandrakes and seeds for planting is by traveling north of Hogsmeade to Dogweed and Deathcap. To get to this shop, you’ll have to head north past Brood and Peck and cross the bridge before traversing the nearby hill. The shop is in an alcove, where you can enter and begin shopping!

At Dogweed and Deathcap, you can buy fully-grown mandrakes for 500 gold or seeds for 800. By purchasing seeds, you’ll be able to grow your own in the Room of Requirement. Since you can grow it in any sized pot, you don’t have to worry about going out and grabbing a particular one. However, if you want the process to be much faster, you can buy the little shrieking plant as-is for a reduced price.

Alternatively, if you don’t want to spend money and don’t mind risking your life, you can also find mandrakes in the wild. They occasionally appear in areas like the Forbidden Forest, particularly around bandit camp farms.

Once you get your hands on a mandrake, you’ll have to equip it and use it on multiple enemies simultaneously before reporting to Professor Garlick and learning the Wingardium Leviosa spell.

Buying Mandrakes from Wanderer Shops

If you’re out on the road and don’t feel like heading back to Hogsmeade, you can also occasionally find mandrakes from Wanderer Shops, commonly known as travelling merchants. You’ll find these guys scattered throughout the map, and they sell an assortment of items, including new brooms. On your map, they appear as a coin stack icon.

One merchant I found along my travels was Leopold Babcocke, just south of Hogsmeade, who, luckily enough, had some mandrakes for sale. Since they’re the same price as Dogweed and Deathcap, though, the only real advantage is not having to go back to Hogsmeade.

Finding the occasional broom for sale is also nice, but getting these in the early game is a challenge with how pricey they are.
