With the release of Season 9 of Overwatch 2, the team has introduced Legacy Competitive Points to the game. Here’s how to get Legacy Competitive Points in Overwatch 2.
How to Earn Legacy Competitive Points in Overwatch 2
Legacy Competitive Points are earned after a year of competitive Overwatch 2 seasons concludes. These are your Competitive Points that you had previously converted into Legacy Competitive Points, including any you had left over. This was also done with the start of Season 9, but won’t happen again until the 2024 Competitive Year is over.
The key difference between the two types of Competitive Points is what they can be spent on. Standard Competitive Points can be spent on the brand-new Jade weapon skins added with Season 9. Meanwhile, Legacy Competitive Points can only be used on Gold weapon skins. This means those who want Jade weapon skins will need to play actively during that year of Competitive Overwatch.
The prices of both types of skins will remain the same. You’ll still need 3,000 Legacy Competitive Points to purchase Gold weapon skins, and Jade skins will cost 3,000 Competitive Points similarly. This is likely just a way to make it so people who’ve played years of Competitive can’t buy all the Jade weapon skins immediately. Whether that choice makes sense is a debate of its own, but it’s the case.
Will More Skins Be Purchaseable With Legacy Competitive Points?
While Blizzard has yet to confirm or deny any future Competitive skins being added, one will likely be introduced in the future. If it is, there’s a good chance that Jade weapon skins will become purchaseable with Legacy Competitive Points. Once that change does come through, we’ll update this article to reflect that.
