How to Get Gimmighoul Coins in Pokemon Go

The Pokemon Company is slowly integrating more and more connections between its various games and apps, and Gholdengo is the latest example of that. This Steel- and Ghost-type Pokemon has finally made its debut in Pokemon GO, but only trainers that connect their Pokemon Scarlet or Violet game to the Pokemon GO account will be able to access it.

Or, I suppose, you can convince someone to trade you one.

But if you want to earn one for yourself, you’re going to need Gimmighoul Coins. And to get Gimmighoul Coins, you’re going to need to connect your Pokemon GO account to your Nintendo Switch. Once that’s done, send your Pokemon Scarlet or Violet game a postcard. Doing so will grant you the Coin Bag. Once you have the Coin Bag, you can activate it and it will work very similar to daily incense.

As you walk around, you’ll see that Roaming Form Gimmighoul will start to spawn. Catching Gimmighoul is one of the primary ways of obtaining Gimmighoul Coins, but there are also a few other ways to accelerate the process. After all, you’re going to need 999 coins if you want to evolve your Gimmighoul into a Gholdengo!

Other ways to get Gimmighoul Coins are to purchase them from the in-game shop. Currently (February 27, 2023) there is a free box which will grant you 9 Gimmighoul Coins. You can also add Gimmighoul as your buddy to passively grind out Gimmighoul coins. And the final option is to send multiple postcards to your Nintendo Switch account. By doing this, you’ll obtain a Golden Lure, which, when used on a Pokestop, will turn it Gold. Spinning a Gold Pokestop will grant you Gimmighoul Coins!

The process of sending postcards and getting lures is something that can only be done a limited amount of times per day. But don’t worry, it resets at midnight! So, just have patience and keep grinding out those coins.
