How to Get Gholdengo in Pokemon GO

So nice you had to grind for it twice

Gholdengo is perhaps one of the more unique Pokemon that debuted with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, quickly cementing itself into many early metas. And finally, we’ll have a chance to get it in Pokemon GO. Here’s how to get Gholdengo in Pokemon GO.

How to Get Gholdengo in Pokemon GO

Getting Gholdengo in Pokemon GO will require you to jump through a few hoops, so get your Nintendo Switch ready!

Like in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you’ll need 999 Gimmighoul coins to evolve your Roaming Gimmighoul into Gholdengo. To start this process, you’ll need to connect your Pokemon GO account to your Pokemon Scarlet or Violet game. Check out the related link if you’re unsure of how to do that:

Once your account is connected, you’ll need to send a postcard from your Pokemon GO account to your Nintendo Switch account. The first time you send a postcard, you’ll get your Coin Bag. And now that we have a Coin Bag, we can start catching (and farming) Gimmighoul.

Each Gimmighoul you catch will give you one Gimmighoul Coin, but there are a few ways to expedite the slow process of gathering all 999. You can add Gimmighoul as your buddy and take advantage of Golden Lures.

By sending multiple postcards to get a Golden Lure, which will turn the Pokestop, you use it on into a Golden Pokestop. You can then spin these Pokestops for Gimmighoul Coins. And for a limited time, you can find a free box in the in-game shop with nine Gimmighoul coins.

As you’ve likely guessed, getting Gholdengo is a long process that requires dedication and patience. But by sending postcards daily, buddy candies, and using the Golden Lure, you’ll get your Gholdengo. It’s likely that the Steel and Ghost-type Pokemon will have access to moves like Hex and Shadow Ball, too, but it will probably be a few weeks before we see if it has a place in the meta.
