Pax Dei has several tiers for some of its resources, and if you have noticed you aren’t unlocking any other recipes and got stuck, you might be overlooking some of the tier 2 resources like Fine Wooden Planks. However, Fine Wooden Planks are the finished product already. In this guide, we’ll cover where you can find these Fine Wooden Planks or how you can craft them in Pax Dei.
Where to Get Fine Wooden Planks in Pax Dei
To get Fine Wooden Planks, you need to find Heartwood, which is the next tier after Sapwood. If you have encountered any trees that were “too hard” to chop before using a normal chopping axe, you’ll need to upgrade to an Iron Chopping Axe to chop those sturdier trees.
These trees can spawn near the starting area and in biomes such as forests, mountains, and meadows. They are hard to differentiate from normal trees, but you can discern them by chopping the tree and counting the number of swings it takes to get them down. If it is eight or more swings, it has a chance to give you Heartwood.
I suggest marking these trees with a waypoint on your map so you can return to them, especially since they respawn quickly. Once you have some Heartwood, you can go back to your chopping block where you used to make Wooden Pegs and Planks. You’ll see the Fine Wooden Planks and Fine Wood Beams recipe. Fine Wooden Planks need 10 Heartwood, but you get 10 Fine Wooden Planks per craft.
What Are Fine Wooden Planks Used For?
Fine Wooden Planks are needed to craft the Pottery Kiln, which unlocks Bricks and Clay Shingles for more Carpentry-related stuff. The Pottery Kiln requires:
- 1x Pottery Molds
- 12x Fine Wooden Planks
- 25x Gneiss
- 12x Short Wood Stock
Heartwood is a bit hard to find, so farming at least 20 Heartwood before returning should be your priority. You’ll have enough to craft the Pottery Kiln and get those Brick productions going.
