How to Get Crucio in Hogwarts Legacy

Not as unforgivable as you imagined

The Unforgivable Curses are one of the most interesting features of Hogwarts Legacy. While they’re…well, unforgivable, it seems that using them at will won’t get you in any complicated situation for now, so the morality of instantly killing any opponents is all up to you. If that’s too much for you, just torture them with Crucio instead.

The Cruciatus Curse is the second Unforgivable Curse properly introduced in the series (Avada Kedavra was technically the first, but it went unnamed for a while), but actually the first you get to learn in the game. And the key to all that is to befriend Slytherin’s main companion.

How to Learn Crucio in Hogwarts Legacy

The curse can be obtained by following the Sebastian Sallow questline, all of them being named “In The Shadow Of…”. His following quests will also teach you the other curses as you progress through the game, so keep this in mind.

You can start his questline after Sebastian says that he’ll send you an owl later so you can get to know each other more. Keep playing the game and check your letters regularly until you get his message. You’ll need to be around Level 17 for them to pop up, and the quest In The Shadow of The Study will get you the curse as its main reward.

You’ll eventually reach a door that will require the Cruciatus Curse to be used. At this moment, you can choose not to learn the curse, and if you do, you’ll never get another chance to learn it. The quest can still be completed without you learning it, though. If you ask to learn it, you can choose to use the curse on Sebastian or have him use it on you instead, with no real impact on the quest’s final resolution.

Crucio works like a Damage Over Time skill in Hogwarts Legacy, making its targets take damage while afflicted by the curse, making it very useful against beefy enemies and even bosses who are also susceptible to the curse. Enjoy your newfound Dark Arts powers!
