Clay may not be the most used resource in Stardew Valley, but when you need it, it never seems to be in the right chest. Here’s where you can find Clay from all over the world, yonder mountain, dwelling in caves, and where you’ll need it most in Stardew Valley.
How and Where to Find Clay in Stardew Valley
Clay is a resource that is available early on in the game and will mostly be used to get a Silo to begin gathering Hay for your animals. Later in the game, it can be used for more advanced types of fertilizer and decorations once you gather plenty more.
Tilling
Tiling soil is going to be one of the best ways to get Clay early in-game. You may already be able to gather some through tilling on your farm to make room for your crops. It isn’t guaranteed that you’ll get a lot that way once you begin running out of space, so there are a couple of different areas you want to try when tilling for Clay.
The best place aside from Artifact Spots to tile soil is along the Beach since it tends to have a lot of open space that doesn’t yield much use other than occasionally finding Mussels and Clams.
Another great way to get soil through tiling is by taking a Hoe into the mines. On days when you have Better Luck, you’ll have a greater chance of getting resources even through just Tiling Soil. By tiling in spaces within the mines that have softer areas of dirt, you’ll not only get a chance to get other types of Resources like Cave Carrots and minerals but plenty of Clay as well.
Artifact Spots
Instead of Tiling randomly, players can also be on the lookout for Artifact Spots. These particular areas look like the soil is overrun by worms coming out of the ground and will usually yield a variety of things, such as Artifacts to take to Gunther, Books for the Library, and most of the time resources such as Rocks and Clay.
Clay Nodes
The next spot to get clay is on Ginger Island’s Dig Site. This area is reminiscent of the Quarry to the right of the Mines; there is a huge space of different types of Boulders holding Bones, and one specifically yields Clay when broken. This area is also great for breaking down Mahogany Trees. Once unlocked, this area can be great to return to for capping up on resources when your farm is running dry.
Where is Clay Used Most in Stardew Valley
Clay can be used for several things, some of the most important ones being Fertilizers, a Silo, Bone Mill, and many more things that can easily be overlooked.
