Despite many people hating its final evolution, Chespin is still widely appreciated by many trainers, and it’s good to see it back in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk. Here’s how you can catch this devious creature.

Where to Find Chespin in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk

Chespin is found in the Canyon Biome once you conclude the “Boost biodiversity in the Canyon Biome” donation in the League Club Room. The biodiversity donations are the most expensive ones available in the Support Board, costing a total of 3000 BP each. It will take a while grinding a lot of those BBQs around the Academy before you can unlock it.

Chespin will always be inside the caves, so take a teleport to the Chargestone Cave and roam around until you see it. Certain portions of the cave are technically part of the Polar Biome, but Chespin can still spawn on those. Unlocking the Polar Biome biodiversity isn’t needed for that, as Chespin is still considered part of the Canyon.

If you have trouble finding it or simply don’t feel like wasting your time, prepare an Encounter Power: Level 2 or higher sandwich to make things easier. The caves will be infested with Chespin once you do, and you might even come across a Shiny one, if you’re lucky enough.

The Great Klawf Claw Sandwich is a good call for that. You can make it by using Lettuce, Tomato, Klawf Stick, Wasabi, Salt and Olive Oil. It lasts for 30 minutes and you can also go for other Grass starters while you’re boosted with it.

How to Catch Chespin in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk

Chespin doesn’t have that low of a catch rate, but it isn’t as easy either. Open up by using a Quick Ball if you can as it has a good chance of instantly catching it. If it fails, make sure you have some other Pokemon that can wear it down with moves like False Swipe. Grass moves are also okay as these shouldn’t hurt it to critical levels.

Since it only spawns in a cave, Dusk Balls are incredibly powerful for catching it, so bring a few of them just in case your Quick Ball fails. If you’re out of those, your option is to keep throwing Ultra Balls until it decides to stay. Remember to use status-inflicting moves like Thunder Wave or Hypnosis to make the catching easier.

This is just one of the many starters you can look out for in the game after grinding enough BP. You can grab all of your favorites and some others, so give them a chance if you can.
