Despite being students in Hogwarts Legacy, we can unlock the three Unforgivable Curses for use in combat, regardless of how feared they are. The most powerful and feared of those curses is the Avada Kedavra spell, also known as the Killing Curse in the books and the movies.

As soon as you get a hold of the Killing Curse, you’ll be able to take down enemies in one good hit, but it does come with a long cooldown timer. Before you can start using the legendary curse though, it needs to be learned. Our guide will outline how you can unlock the Avada Kedavra curse in Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy – How to Unlock the Avada Kedavra Curse

Without any surprise, the Killing Curse is tied to the Sebastian Sallow companion from House Slytherin in Hogwarts Legacy. Players will need to speak with Sebastian and take on his quests if they want to get Avada Kedavra themselves. Sebastian has a handful of quests, many of which are tied to the main story. However, it’s the final “In the Shadow of the Relic” quest that we want to focus on.

This final quest is optional and that means players can miss it. Many of the spells in Hogwarts Legacy are tied to the main quests, which makes it easy to collect them, but we don’t have that luxury here. To even get this quest to appear, you’ll need to be at least level 28, a level that is nearing the end game of Hogwarts Legacy. I recommend getting these quests out of the way, and in my experience, it’s good to have the curse on hand anyway.

The relic quest brings players to a cave full of Inferi that must be defeated. Those who can make it to the end and survive the ordeal will have the chance to learn Avada Kedavra. While it may be fairly late in the game, there should still be plenty of use for it in the side quests of Hogwarts Legacy.
