Starfield: How to Find the Aurora Drug

You can find the Aurora drug on the planet Neon at the Astral Lounge. Trying to bribe a superfan out of his stole merchandise? Feel like slowing down time? Whatever’s drawing you to Aurora, there’s really only one place to get it reliably and cheaply. And that’s on Neon.

And the absolute best source of Aurora is in the Astral Lounge. Located on Neon, the Astral Lounge can be accessed upon entering and heading all the way to the back of the map. You won’t need to enter a new loading area until you reach the Astral Lounge, and you’ll pass by Reliant Medical, Hotel Volii, and Enhance! on your right to get there.

When you’re inside the Astral Lounge, go to the far back wall where you’ll find a bar. The bartender, Boone, will then offer your Aurora. The Aurora Drug is 722 Credits. It is completely legal to purchase in the Astral Lounge.

Note, the cost of Aurora will fluctuate depending on what Skills you have.

Your other option to get Aurora is through Euphorika. Euphorika is a much more mellow bar in the Ebbside on Neon. But note that you won’t be able to purchase it from the bartender, Myka. Instead, you’ll need to buy access to the exclusive, member-only lounge from Myka for 5,000 credits. Once you do this, you’ll be able to go upstairs and buy Aurora from the bartender there, along with a few stat-boosting drinks.

Other Ways to Get Aurora in Starfield

The other way you can get Aurora is to make it yourself.

To start the Aurora production process, travel to Neon on the planet Volii Alpha and witness NPC Neshar’s arrest for drug smuggling. This triggers the Loose Ends quest in Starfield, prompting a conversation with Neshar in his prison cell. Then, he’ll give you details about a smuggling operation led by Legrande, a vendor in Neon’s downtown.

Visit Legrande Liquors in Starfield, closer to Neon’s downtown, and inquire about Legrande’s operation to secure a job with the Xenofish Corporation. This job teaches you how to craft Aurora at Pharmaceutical Stations. Once you craft a vial, you gain the ability to replicate it at any Pharmaceutical Station in the galaxy.

The recipe for Aurora includes:

  • 1 Stimulant.
  • 2 Hallucinogens.
  • 1 Benzene.
  • 1 Chambass Oil.

These components are provided during the Xenofish Corporation mission.

From there, make sure to build Lab Stations on an Outpost, or find them at the Lodge to produce Aurora. Its ingredients are available from various Starfield vendors, especially those offering miscellaneous items. While stealing from Xenofish Corporation factories is an option, it may draw unwanted attention and make your Aurora manufacturing needlessly complicated.

Aurora, when consumed, slows down time. This hallucinogen is very useful in space combat, as you can slow down time to make the best combat decisions.

Ingesting Aurora results in a 40% time slowdown for 10 seconds, making it a handy chemical during combat to gain an edge and decelerate time. However, exercise caution, as too much Aurora may lead to acquiring the Stimulant Addiction status effect.

Note: Aurora is an illegal substance anywhere in the Settled Systems outside of Neon.

What Happens if You’re Caught With Aurora?

Aurora is categorized as contraband. Getting caught smuggling out Aurora, will add a bounty to your head. Generally, when caught with Starfield contraband and confronted with arrest, you have several choices: pay the fine, serve jail time, attempt an escape, or opt for bribery. Each option comes with its own advantages and drawbacks. Regardless of the choice, all Starfield contraband in your inventory and ship storage will be forfeited.

How to Smuggle Aurora Out of Neon

When you reach the top of the elevator, before stepping out, open your ship menu and go to the cargo tab. Switch to your inventory (press “Q” on PC) and move all contraband into your ship. If you have shielded cargo and signal jammers, you can successfully smuggle Aurora about 90% of the time.

While you’re frequenting all these bars looking for Aurora, be sure to pick up all the companions and crewhands you can afford. These teammates will help boost your ship and can be stationed at your outpost for big benefits.
