If you decide to continue the game at the highest difficulty levels, you will not be able to increase your job levels beyond the maximum limit so the only customization comes through Master Points that can make you even stronger, which is necessary at the CHAOS difficulty level. After completing the game once, the last, highest, CHAOS difficulty level is unlocked. By completing the missions in this mode, you will win two new “currencies” that you will not find in other modes; these are Limit Releases items and Anima Crystals. Limit Releases will remove the maximum level limit on jobs, and Anima Crystals will instantly add XP to your job, drastically more than Anima Shards with normal weights. Why does this matter? Well, because you get one Master Point each time you successfully level a job one level above the maximum level. So the process looks like this:

  1. Use Limit Release to remove the level cap on a job.
  2. Level that job using Anima Crystals.
  3. Receive 1 Master Point for each level over the cap.

In order to use your newly earned Master Points, click the right thumbstick on the job tree screen. You will be then presented with the Job Master menu where you can spend your Master Points like in a classic RPG game, investing it into one of the usual stats like HP+, Strength, Stamina, and Intellect. You can give a boost to a stat that is most useful in your particular playstyle, but you can also freely experiment with Master Points because you can reset them anytime at no cost.

Now you know how to get and use Master Points so get back into the Stranger of Paradise and grind those first few missions for the easiest boost in stats that will prepare you to take on the rest of the game on the unforgiving CHAOS difficulty.
