How to Get and Evolve Larvesta in Pokemon GO

Challenging evolutions won't bug me!

Larvesta, first introduced in Generation 5, is well-known for being an irregularity amongst other Bug Pokemon in the sense that it evolves considerably later than many of its fellow bug types. Given its irregular nature and general scarcity in the mainline series, it comes as no surprise that Niantic would make obtaining and evolving Larvesta a similar challenge in Pokemon GO. Here’s how to get Larvesta and evolve it into Volcarona in Pokemon GO.

How to Evolve Larvesta in Pokemon GO

Once you have hatched the bug born from the sun after working up a sweat, your next step is to evolve it into Volcarona. In the mainline games, Larvesta evolves into Volcarona at level 59. Therefore, Niantic won’t let us obtain Volcarona that easily. It may come as no surprise to you that the requirement to evolve Larvesta into Volcarona is to collect 400 Larvesta Candies.

Here are the methods you can use to obtain Larvesta Candy:

  • Continue to hatch Larvesta from 2km, 5km, 10km during the Season of Rising Heroes
  • Make Larvesta your Buddy Pokemon and collect a candy for every 5km that you walk with it
  • Use Rare Candies on Larvesta to obtain more Larvesta Candy

Whichever methods you use, once you obtain the required 400 Larvesta Candy, you are able to evolve Larvesta into Volcarona. Congratulations on registering one of the more unique Bug Pokemon in your Pokedex!
