How to Get and Complete the Dragon’s Breath Catalyst Fast in Destiny 2

Dragon’s Breath is an Exotic Rocket Launcher you can pick up from the Battle Pass in your menu. Once you’ve claimed Dragon’s Breath, you can pick up the Dragon’s Breath Catalyst quest by going to Banshee-44 in the Tower.

Banshee-44 is the gunsmith who sells weapons, located just past the Vaults.

Once you speak to Banshee-44, you’ll get the Catalyst quest “An Old Flame”. This is a three-part quest which requires you to complete the following steps.

Step 1:

  • Scorched targets defeated 0 / 50
  • Bosses defeated 0 / 5

The bosses you defeat must also be Scorched! But you don’t need to do this with Dragon’s Breath.

Step 2:

  • Calibrate data by completing Vanguard Operations, Gambit, Crucible, or Seasonal activities (0/200)
  • Targets defeated 0%

This is the part that can be quite a slog. The fastest way to complete step 2 is by running the Vanguard Operation “Lake of Shadows” in the EDZ. This strike can be selected while on the EDZ screen, and it takes less than five minutes to complete once you get the hang of it.

That’s still a lot of Strikes you’ll need to complete, so I recommend pacing yourself and keeping the Rocket launcher equipped while you’re doing any playlist activities.

You won’t need a particular build to get the 100% kills, but if you want to optimize your build, I recommend using a Solar Scavenger Mod on your leg armor and a Heavy Ammo Finder Mod on your helmet. Running two specials may also increase the chance of Heavy Ammo dropping.

Step 3:

  • Return to Banshee-44

Once you’ve completed step 2, the last thing you’ll need to do is speak to Banshee-44. He’ll gift you the Catalyst, and Dragon’s Breath will replenish its fuel faster, and enemies defeated with Dragon’s Breath will drop Firesprites periodically.

Picking up a Firesprite can trigger Restoration or Grenade Energy.
