How to Get Your Free Mew in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Mew is being distributed for free right now by using the code GETY0URMEW through the game’s Mystery Gift feature. Differently from other Mystery Gifts Pokemon, the Mew you receive is unique in both his Tera Type and Moves, so that leaves you with up to 18 possible Mews to get!

To redeem your free Mew, all you gotta do is the following:

  • 1 – Launch your Pokemon Scarlet/Violet game;
  • 2 – Open the menu and connect to the Poke Portal (requires internet connection);
  • 3 – Scroll down and select “Mystery Gift”;
  • 4 – Select “Get with Code/Password” and enter “GETY0URMEW”

Mew can be claimed from August 8 to September 18, so grab it quickly before it goes away!

Your Mew will be automatically added to your boxes, so take a look at which type and moves you got! Mew is notorious for being able to learn every single TM out there, so you can customize its moves in any way you want, as long as you’re willing to give it some effort.

Despite not receiving official confirmation, we can assume that this Mew cannot be shiny. No Mystery Gift Pokemon can even come as shiny unless it’s specifically stated, so there’s no reason for that to be the case with Mew. It’s been a good while since Mew has been officially distributed by Nintendo, so it’s still a win anyway.

His powerful clone counterpart Mewtwo will later be available as a Tera Raid in September, so you have a lot of time to prepare for that. In the meantime, you should definitely check out the other active Mystery Gift codes.
