Zenless Zone Zero is the latest free-to-play action RPG from miHoYo that trades traditional fantasy and sci-fi for an urban fantasy setting. The PC version runs similarly to previous miHoYo releases like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail but shares common technical issues because of the same engine. If you’re constantly running into a Unity-related crash while trying to play Zenless Zone Zero with an Intel GPU, here is how you can fix that.
Fixing the Zenless Zone Zero Unity Crash on Intel GPUs
To fix the Unity crash while playing Zenless Zone Zero, if you have an Intel GPU, you need to add a launch command to its executable to force the game to use DirectX 12.
Here is how you can easily do this:
- First, head over to where Zenless Zone Zero is installed, or right-click on the shortcut and select Open file location (ZenlessZoneZero Game folder)
- Locate the ZenlessZoneZero executable, and right-click on it
- Select the “Create shortcut” option
- Now, right-click on the shortcut, and select Properties
- At the end of the Target text, add -force-d3d12
- (Make sure you add a space before -force-d3d12 as shown above)
- For now, use the shortcut to play the game instead of the launcher
Multiple users with Intel GPUs have confirmed that using this command is the only real workaround for the issue.
Update GPU Drivers
If that doesn’t work, make sure you have the latest Intel GPU drivers as well. This is especially important if you haven’t updated those in a while. You can download the latest drivers from the official drivers support website.
We hope that miHoYo is aware of this and addresses it in an upcoming patch because a lot of laptop users, especially those with Intel GPUs, can make it difficult for them to enjoy the title. For more on Zenless Zone Zero, head over to our dedicated section.
