How to Fix The Casting of Frank Stone Ultrawide Issue on PC

Ultrawide Frank Stone

Supermassive Games’ latest horror narrative title, The Casting of Frank Stone, is set in the Dead By Daylight universe, and the studio continues to use Unreal Engine to bring fantastic environments and characters to life. The PC version runs quite similar to their previous releases, and there are a few notable omissions from its presentation and settings, like proper ultrawide support. Thankfully, a patch by Rose from the widescreen community addresses that in The Casting of Frank Stone.

Fixing The Casting of Frank Stone Ultrawide Issues

The patch created by Rose removes the black bars from The Casting of Frank Stone without reducing the vertical field of view in ultrawide and other resolutions.

  • Head over to the following GitHub link
  • Download the patch file by clicking the The.Casting.of.Frank.Stone.ultrawide.v1.0.zip under Assets
  • Unpack the zip file in the following location inside the game’s installation folder:
SMG037UE5\Binaries\Win64\

That’s all you need to do, and after that, the black bars will be removed from the presentation, and the FOV will be consistent as well. The game might take a bit to load on the first boot, but that’s just the patch being installed.

Check out the result in the screenshot shared by Rose.

All credits go to Rose for creating and testing the patch at 1920×1200, 3840×1080, and 3440×1440. You can learn about their work at their Patreon or BuyMeACoffee pages. For now, there aren’t reported issues with the patch, and it works flawlessly.

We don’t expect the developers to add proper support anytime soon. Their previous releases have lacked support for ultrawide monitors as well, and black bars are fairly common. This is likely due to the cinematic presentation, and they don’t want to have more control over the space to avoid any clipping or awkward animations coming into view. We hope that they consider adding it to future titles, though, as more and more PC users are adopting ultrawide monitors.
