Nine Sols is best played with a controller, and the developers recommend using one too. The PC release comes with native support for multiple controller types, and most users won’t have much trouble with their desired inputs. However, if you’re running into any controller issues while playing Nine Sols, like incorrect prompts, here is how you can fix those.
Fixing Controller Issues in Nine Sols
To make sure controllers work properly in Nine Sols, you need to disable Steam Input for the game.
To do this, follow the steps below:
- Make sure Nine Sols isn’t running
- Open Steam, and navigate to your library
- Here, right-click on Nine Sols and select Properties
- In the Controller tab, select the Disable Steam Input option under Override for Nine Sols
After you’re done, relaunch Nine Sols, and the native profiles set by the developers will be loaded instead of Steam Input. This will ensure that the PlayStation button prompts are correctly displayed and vibration works as intended.
Use a Wired Connection for PlayStation Controllers
After you have disabled Steam Input, you’ll need to use a wired connection if you want to see the proper prompts in-game while playing with a PlayStation controller.
If you want to play wirelessly, you can turn Steam Input back on, but this will change the button prompts to the default Xbox ones.
Check Detected Controllers
If you still can’t get your controllers to work, make sure Steam is actually detecting the ones you have plugged in. To check detected controllers in the Steam client, simply select Steam > Settings > Controller:
Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Support
If you’re playing with a Nintendo Switch Pro controller, we recommend using Steam Input as Nine Sols does not have a native profile set up for it.
These tips should fix any controller issues you’re facing, and if you’re just starting out, make sure to check out our guide on how you can parry properly in Nine Sols. It also runs great on the Steam Deck, which shouldn’t be a surprise.
