Error Code: CAT in Destiny 2 occurs when there is a brand-new game update available for the pseudo-MMO. According to Bungie, it happens when “a new update to Destiny is available. If you are seeing this error the first time you launch Destiny, please exit the game and apply the update before relaunching.”
In layman’s terms, your game is outdated. Just close out the application, open the launcher of your choosing, such as Steam, and update Destiny 2. Depending on the size of the update, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more, as the game is known for quite sizable updates.
