The Last Epoch 1.0 patch has gone live and plenty of players are clamoring to get in, but you may have some trouble with the download or a new character. This quick guide will cover how you can get the download going and get into the action.
How to Start the Last Epoch 1.0 Download
You need to restart Steam entirely and close the Last Epoch client to get the download started. For some extra help, you can attempt to verify the game files which can kickstart the download as well, but the main issue is having Steam open ahead of time. This is an easily solvable issue that most players jumping in right away are experiencing. If you have your game set to download updates by default, it still won’t work, so it needs to be done manually.
How to Download Last Epoch 1.0:
- Restart Steam.
- Close Last Epoch and verify game files.
- The download will start with a 7GB update.
I also ran into the issue and I closed down all Steam processes along with Last Epoch. The first time I restarted Steam I had no luck but on the second attempt the download started rolling. The 1.0 update is about 7GB. That’s not a hefty update by any means but you still need to wait for the download to finish before starting a new cycle.
Once you’re in the game, you can get started on the Legacy character you already had or you can make a Cycle Character. However, some issues have popped up here as well.
How to Fix Stuck on Cycle Character in Last Epoch
Completely restart Last Epoch and go back to the character creation screen if you are stuck on the Cycle Character. With the 1.0 update, many players are choosing to make a new Cycle Character as their first option, and once that option is selected, the loading screen will stay frozen. If you try to wait out the loading screen, you’ll be waiting there forever.
Instead, just restart Last Epoch and jump back into the 1.0 update. The same screen will appear for the Cycle Character option and you can get started. But if the servers are having their own problems, that’s a whole new obstacle.
If you manage to get started, make sure to use a decent beginner class.
