One of the last quests in the campaign is the Uniting Severed Threads, where Xal’atath and Alleria Windrunner finally engage each other. Some players may find themselves stuck in this quest through no fault of their own because of a bug. Here’s how you can fix the bug and finish the Uniting Severed Threads in World of Warcraft TWW and finally progress further.

How to Finish Uniting Severed Threads Quest in World of Warcraft: The War Within

The Uniting Severed Thread quest is the last quest in the Plans Within Plans story quest chain in Azj-Kahet. Here is the whole quest chain in chronological order:

  1. A Most Intriguing Invitation
  2. Into a Skittering City
  3. Like a Spider on the Wall
  4. Rewriting the Rewritten
  5. Kaheti Hospitality
  6. What We Still Have
  7. Uniting Severed Threads

The story starts with you and your party stealthily infiltrating the City of Threads. You’ll meet a few interesting characters, and ultimately, you’ll get to a cutscene with Xal’atath appearing before the Nerubians, and Alleria forcefully attempts to take a shot at Xal’atath, only to fail. You’ll flee and meet back with the Weaver for the Uniting Severed Threads.

The Uniting Severed Threads has the following objectives:

  • General’s Shadecaster activated
  • Vizier’s Shadecaster activated
  • Speak to the Weaver to begin the conference
  • Witness the formation of the Severed Threads

To finish the quest, you must activate both Shadecasters near the Weaver, and it’ll show the General and the Vizier when starting the conference. Talk to the Weaver, and there will be a dialogue option to start the conference. Once you start the conference, they’ll start chatting for about two minutes, and it’ll complete the quest. If you made it this far, you have been a little bit lucky since several players have been reporting major bugs or issues with this quest.

How to Fix the Uniting Severed Threads Quest Bug in WoW TWW

The most common problem or bug from this quest is where the conference doesn’t begin at all. You’ll activate both Shadecasters, but you can’t even start the conference. There are also some occasions where you can start the conference, but they won’t even talk. Even if you wait for 30 minutes, they still won’t talk.

If you abandon the quest and take it again, the issue might get fixed, but most players still get the problem. The only fix is to repeat this in order:

  1. Abandon the quest.
  2. Exit the game completely and open it again.
  3. Take the quest again.
  4. Try to have a five-second interval before activating any Shadecaster.
  5. If it is still bugged, repeat step 1.

Most players fixed the problem after three to four restarts. It is an annoying bug but nothing too game-breaking. The issue might be caused by server or technical problems, as the Battle.net service kept disconnecting and reconnecting when the bug occurred.

After finishing the quest, this will take you closer to the endgame, where you can now start experimenting with the best classes (if you want to build an alt) or continue gearing up and playing Delves.
