How to Finish Back Door in Escape from Tarkov

You can already smell the D2 rats from here.

There are several quests in Escape from Tarkov that aim to teach the player an extraction point. Some are as simple as finding the spot and extracting, but some have different requirements before extracting, like the Back Door task in Reserve. Here’s how to finish the Back Door task in Escape from Tarkov.

How to Complete the Back Door Task in Escape from Tarkov

The Back Door quest is a simple survival and extraction task from Mechanic. The objectives are:

  • Find the unpowered secret exit in Reserve.
  • Extract through that exit

Players must survive and extract since the “finding the unpowered secret exit” objective will restart if you fail to extract through that exit in that specific raid. Since players in Reserve will also use this extraction point on a regular basis, the task makes it an even more “hotter” spot on Reserve than usual.

It is important to know where the unpowered secret exit is before going into a raid because it will be difficult to navigate around while in a game. This unpowered secret exit is the D2 extraction in Reserve, but in some cases, that extraction point is blacked out. This is because you need to activate the power before you can open the D2 extraction point. Here are the directions on the power and the D2 extraction.

How to Find the D2 Extraction Point in Reserve in Escape from Tarkov

The power switch for the underground bunker is also located in the bunker. There are several ways to go to the basement. You can go to one of the pawn and bishop buildings and go to the stairs leading down to the bunker. There’s also a spiral staircase going down from the dome in the mountain that leads to the underground bunker.

If you go to the bunker from the mountains, you’ll encounter the D2 extraction point first, but if you go through the pawn and bishop buildings, you’ll get to the power switch on the way to the D2 extraction point.

You’ll see the switch and the underground office in the two images above. The underground office is at the center of the underground bunker, where you’ll see all the technical and ration supply crates. You can break the glass in the office and head to the back. You’ll see some generators here and you’ll find the power switch as well. If you don’t want to go inside the office, there’s also a pathway leading to the back.

Once you have turned on the power, the D2 extraction will be available. From the middle of the underground bunker, you’ll see a metal staircase going up to the white king building. Don’t go to the stairs, but instead, head towards the ramp, as seen in the first image above.

Follow the path, as every room from here will be linear. Once you reach the room with all the metal shelves and types of machinery, you’ll see a door on the left. Enter the door, and this whole pathway should lead to the D2 extraction.

Once you reach the end, there will be a switch to open the D2 door. Open the door and extract from the location. This whole underground area, especially the pathways leading to the D2 door, is one of the most dangerous spots in Tarkov. The D2 extraction itself is a haven for rats, which is already well-known by the Tarkov community. Just proceed with caution every time you are going to take the D2 extraction.

If you have other Reserve tasks like Special Comms, you can try to fit those tasks into your planned routes while in the game so you can finish multiple tasks in one raid. Since Back Door only requires you to extract, combining other tasks with it is easy. There is also some great military-grade loot in Reserve if you want to make some Roubles.
