How to Find the Spicy Red Berry in Detective Pikachu Returns

A good old bait and switch.

As you work on solving the mystery of the Southern Ruins in The Fabled Aurora case in Detective Pikachu Returns, you’re tasked with finding a “spicy red Berry” for the Passimian statues. And if you’re like me, you’ve checked every tree to no avail – where is it? Here’s where to find the spicy red Berry in Detective Pikachu 2.

The yellow and blue Berries for the other two Passimian statues were found on trees, so surely this is where you can find a spicy red one, right? Wrong. It’s not on a tree, as you may have gathered if you spent 20 minutes looking for it like I did.

To find the spicy red Berry, you need to talk to Chris Honor, Professor Gordon’s assistant. He’s standing just outside the ruins, stirring a pot of curry. If you look to the left of the ruin entrance, you’ll spot a tree with no Berries. Coincidence? Nope. Someone (or something) picked all the red spicy Berries off it.

After some dialogue and a deduction on what exactly happened to the Berries, you’ll have to find a substitute. Speak to Chris Honor again and ask him about a “Substitute for a Tamato Berry?”. He’ll give you some of his curry, which you must place on the final Passimian statue. It sounds weird but just roll with it.

With all three Berries (well, two Berries and some curry) on their respective statues, the Aegislash door in the north of the room will open, and you can finally progress deeper into the Southern Ruins.

Now that you know how to find the spicy red Berry, why not solve the Quiz Professor’s quiz in Detective Pikachu 2?
