How to Find the Cliffside Ruins Nornir Chest in God of War Ragnarok

You’ll encounter this area in Vanaheim. The Cliffside Ruins are in the center of the long winding river you’ll traverse with the boat. You’ll need to find three runes with rotating paddles on them. These will allow you to rotate them with the corresponding runes on the chest and open it.

First Rune

The first rune can be spotted before you even make landfall. It’s just to the right of the beach you’ll land on with the boat. You’ll actually need to hit this rune from the beach across from the Cliffside Ruins. The one that has Brok and the Mystic Gateway. It’s the only way to get a proper angle on it.

Second Rune

The second rune can be found to the right of the chest. If you look alongside the river, you’ll see the second rune tangled up in some red vines. These can be destroyed with Freya’s Hex arrows. Just chain them together and use your Blades of Chaos to ignite the Hex. This will extinguish the vines and allow you to access the rune. Don’t forget you can hit the same Hex Sigil twice to expand the area of effect.

Third Rune

The third and final rune is located right behind the gold chain hanging on the island’s left side. You’ll need to climb up the wall on the left, jump onto the small narrow bridges and look at the chain from above. Here you’ll see the rune wedged behind the rocks. Throw your axe at it to get the corresponding symbol.

That’s all three of the runes you need to open the legendary chest on the Cliffside Ruins. For more tips, tricks, and guides on God of War Ragnarok, be sure to check out Prima Games. Here are all of the Draugr Hole locations.
