How to Find River Jelly, Sea Jelly, and Cave Jelly in Stardew Valley

As you’re fishing, there’s a chance you can find all sorts of things, from legendary fish to random bits of trash. But there’s also a chance you’ll find a Jelly. There are three types of possible Jelly you can fish up: River Jelly, Sea Jelly, and Cave Jelly. And they can be found exactly where their name implies.

  • River Jelly can be found in all rivers in-game, during all seasons. It can also be found in a Midnight Carp Fish Pond if the population is at least 7.
  • Sea Jelly can be found while fishing in the sea or at the beach farm. It can also be found in a Flounder Fish Pond if the population is at least 7.
  • Cave Jelly can be found in caves where water is found. The first level with water is level 20, then level 60, and finally level 100. It can also be found in a Lava Eel Fish Pond if the population is at least 8.

River, Sea, and Cave Jelly are all rare items, so the higher your fishing proficiency, the better. However, you can catch Jellies as early as level 1. Each Jelly has its own unique benefits.

River Jelly+88 Energy + 39 Health, +30 Max Energy for 7 minutes.
Sea Jelly+75 Energy, +33 Health, +1 Fishing for 7 minutes
Cave Jelly+75 Energy, +33 Health, +1 Luck for 7 minutes

While these benefits are all fine and dandy, the real reason to try to get each of the three Jellies is because they’re an essential ingredient for unlocking the Fish Smoker. The Fish Smoker can be purchased from Willy’s shop at the pier south of town. The Fish Smoker will smoke any fish placed inside with a piece of coal, doubling its worth. The quality of the fish is preserved.

The Fish Smoker requires 10 Hardwood, one River Jelly, one Sea Jelly, one Cave Jelly, and 10,000 Gold. But if you’re fishing a lot, this is a very easy way to make even low-value fish worth your time.

And if you’re fishing a lot, you might want to check out the best pond fish to fish for, or even get a book from the bookseller that will increase your fishing proficiency.
