How to Find and Enter Caves in a Survival World in LEGO Fortnite

Knots won't harvest themselves

Finding resources to upgrade your equipment is part of the main gameplay loop in LEGO Fortnite, and to get started, you need to find some caves. The only way to reach the uncommon rarity for gear is to enter the dark burrows, which I can help with in this guide.

Where to Find Caves in LEGO Fortnite

Caves can be located in the Grasslands biome, and they will appear as massive boulders with a dark entrance. While the Grasslands will be the easiest way to find caves early on in the game, they have a chance to spawn in any biome. Because of the procedural nature of LEGO Fortnite, exploring is the only way to find your own caves.

My recommendation is to get up on a high hill and look out for the largest rocks. There are no breakable boulders that are larger than cave entrances, so if you see a massive boulder sticking out of the ground, that’s your target. Based on the caves I have been able to find so far, you don’t have to walk more than two minutes in any direction to find an entrance.

When you do find one, there will be a cave marker added to the map. These markers are permanent, so you don’t have to worry about placing a custom marker. As long as you get close enough to the cave, it will retain the icon. From there, you can move on to explore the world or you can enter the cave itself.

To enter caves in LEGO Fortnite, you need to activate the entrance. Each cave is a separate instance from the main open world, which means you have to use it like a dungeon to go back and forth. When you do jump in, be prepared for enemies.

While you are inside, don’t forget to harvest all the Knotroot you can for more upgrades.
