When progressing through the world of Remnant 2, chances are you’ll be trying to upgrade your gear as often as possible. The higher the stats, the more damage you’ll deal or be able to take, and the easier content will become. When upgrading your weapons in particular, you’ll need different forms of Iron that increase as you become stronger and stronger. The strongest form of Iron, Hardened Iron, is particularly useful for reaching that crispy level 10 on weapons. Here’s how to farm Hardened Iron in Remnant 2.

Where to Find Hardened Iron in Remnant 2

Hardened Iron won’t begin dropping until you’ve hit a high power level, typically somewhere above 15. You can know your power level by checking the name of the region you’re in in the top right, with anything 16 or higher being able to drop Hardened Iron. This is also based on what the host’s power level is, so if your power level is high enough but the host isn’t, Hardened Iron won’t spawn.

As for specific ways you can farm it, it’s found the same way you can find any other sort of iron. It’ll typically spawn either from the corpses of enemies you’ve killed (stronger enemies can spawn it more easily), or you’ll find it randomly in the world. If you want a guaranteed way to farm it, you’ll want to speak to Cass in Ward 13 and purchase some for Scrap. Given how much of an upgrade weapon levels are, it’s not a massive investment.

How Much Hardened Iron Do You Need to Max Out a Weapon?

Different weapon levels require different amounts of Hardened Iron to be maxed out. For weapons that have a free mod slot, Hardened Iron prices will climb to 28 before you have the weapon at the max of level 20. As for unique weapons (the ones with set mods), the amount needed only climbs to 25.
