With great new regions come bizarre new ways to evolve your Pokemon. Well, that’s not quite what Uncle Ben says, but we reckon that’s close enough for our purposes in Pokemon Sword and Shield. There are some pretty complicated evolutions for monsters both new and old, so here are some tips on how to evolve Yamask in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
How to Evolve Yamask in Pokemon Sword and Shield
If you’re someone who wants to evolve a Yamask, you might have recalled from previous games that just leveling it up to Level 34 would have been sufficient. Unfortunately for those who are having their first encounter with this thing in Galar, it’s a little more complicated than that. Yes, you can’t just opt out with a helpful stone like the Leaf Stone either.
Instead of just leveling up the Pokemon, you’re going to have to make sure that it gets to either 51HP or below. Once you have your Yamask at that particular health threshold, you have to take it to Hammerlocke Hills and essentially do the equivalent of dancing around a pile of rocks under the full moon. You’ll notice some old Stonehenge-looking relics, so just head on over there (close to the actual entrance to Hammerlocke) and when you get close enough with your Yamask at the right HP, it will evolve. Yeah, bit of mysticism for you in Pokemon Sword and Shield, but that’s the only way that you can do it.
Now that you’ve got an idea of how to evolve Yamask in Pokemon Sword and Shield, well, we regret to inform you that it’s not nearly the most tedious way to ensure that a Pokemon evolves. Yeah, it can get more annoying. Regardless, the Runerigus that it evolves into can be quite the niche pick-up, so we wouldn’t call it a total write-off quite yet. It’s pretty unique!
