Pokemon Scarlet and Violet brought with it an entirely new region, 400 Pokemon to capture, and plenty of new objectives to complete. But is there anything more satisfying than finding a new Pokemon and seeing it evolve for the first time? Hatenna is one of the cuter options that you can pick, a cotton candy, pastel pink answer to the Ralt’s family elegance and the Gothita’s gothic Lolita bittersweetness.
But how do you actually evolve this ball of sugar and fluff?
How To Evolve Hatenna in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
If you’ve been leveling this Psychic Pokemon, it’s likely that you’ve gotten it to Level 20 and were perplexed to see it stay small, round, and precious. It’s easy to assume that Hatenna would follow Ralt’s family tree patterns, as they’re both psychic types with three stages and distinctly feminine final evolutions.

But in reality, Hatenna is more a reflection of Gothita and its family line. While many Pokemon in Paldea require you to jump through strange and specific hoops to get Pokemon to evolve, like treading 1,000 steps or having a witness see your Pokemon battle and level, Hatenna doesn’t require any of that.
Like Gothita, it needs only reach Level 32. At that point, this highly empathetic and introverted Pokemon will finally sprout legs, chest, and eyes, turning into Hattrem. Of course, you can skip all the fuss of leveling this Psychic Pokemon to 32 and simply find Hattrem in the wild. It spawns in places you’ll likely traverse: Glaseado Mountain, South Province Area Six, Tagtree Thicket. You can even find it as a fairly common spawn in 3-Star Tera Raid Battles.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Hatenna’s final stage, Hatterene, which can’t be found in the wild and only occurs in 5-Star Raids. But it’s too bewitching not to grind out those last 10 levels for.
Good luck getting that Hattrem, Trainer!
