How to Evolve Gurdurr in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Don't run while holding pillars, boy!

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Gurdurr Evolve featured

Exploring the Kitakami Island is a fresh breath of new air to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, with tons of new creatures to capture and evolve. But surprisingly, a lot of these have some specific requirements for evolution, which are not directly stated to the player unless they look up somewhere. Gurdurr is one of these, as it doesn’t naturally evolve as you level it up. You have to go out of your way for that.

How to Evolve Gurdurr to Conkeldurr in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Gurdurr evolves to Conkeldurr once it’s traded with another player. No need for specific levels or to hold certain items or any other fancy setup. Just a regular, good ole trade between it and any other Pokemon, and it will magically grow and start holding two giant stone pillars with its bare hands once it arrives at the other trainer’s hands.

This is far from the only trade evolution introduced in The Teal Mask so that you can bet a lot of trainers out there are definitely willing to trade a Gurdurr of their own (or any other trade-evolving Pokemon) for yours so that both of you can complete your dex.

How to Get Gurdurr in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Gurdurr is obtained by evolving Timburr. Timburr evolves at Level 25, but it’s found in its early 60s in the wild regions of Kitakami, so catching one and feeding it a Rare Candy will automatically evolve it. Gurdurr might also appear leading a Timburr group, but that’s more of an unusual sight.

Timburr is easily spotted in mountain areas. One of the easiest spawns you can get is in the Oni’s Mountain area, next to Kitakami Hall. Timburr is a very common spawn around here, so park your legendary motorcycle around here and you should find one of these wood-carrying little rascals in no time.

This is just one of the many Pokemon we can now catch in the newest DLC for the current game duo. Be aware that there are some exclusives here too, so you might wanna trade these too.
