Any players who want to finish the Week 7 Challenges in Modern Warfare 3 will need to equip the AOK 4.0x RQ-9 Recon on a recommended weapon. Of course, that can easily get confusing without a better description, which I can help with in my guide.

How to Get Kills with the AOK 4.0x RQ-9 Recon Equipped in MW3

You can equip the AOK 4.0x RQ-9 Recon in the optic slot for most ranged weapons such as assault rifles and marksman rifles. This sight looks similar to the classic ACOG from previous COD games. It has the red arrow directly in the center with a 4.0x zoom for a bit of extra range. Personally, I hate the arrow optics but it’s required for the challenge.

Weapons such as sidearms won’t have access to the AOK 4.0x RQ-9 Recon optic. However, most primary weapons can use the attachment. Even weapons such as submachine guns or shotguns can have the Recon equipped. All you need to do is open up a custom loadout and scroll through the optic slot past the 2.5x optics.

I highly recommend using a marksman rifle for this challenge or a low-recoil assault rifle like the MCW. There is a ton of visual recoil to deal with compared to other scopes, and it didn’t feel too accurate, so you want a weapon that is easy to control by default. For me, that was the MTZ Interceptor, even after the nerf in Season 1 Reloaded.

The Week 7 Challenge is to get 30 Operator Kills with the AOK 4.0x Recon equipped on a recommended weapon. We have the optic part out of the way but now you need the recommend portion out of the way. Luckily, it just means you need to use an MW3-specific weapon. Considering how much better they are, they should be easy enough.

You can always take a look at the full rundown on recommended weapons in MW3 if you need it.
