After navigating through the Garland Ghost Town and preparing to place the fourth and final transmitter on top of the church, Jacob Summers will mention that he smells something funny, which turns out to be wood rot.

Moments after, Jacob will fall through the wooden column, descending into the church below. In order to obtain the trophy it is imperative that you do not follow Jacob yet. Instead, turn on the walkie talkie and attempt to contact Evelyn and Maria.

On Channel 7 and 8 on the walkie-talkie, you will be met with static (or potentially previous messages). Once you have ensured you won’t be interrupted by Maria or Evelyn, descend from the top level to the platform below, where Jacob fell into the church. Once again, do not rappel down the column yet.

When you are at the spot near where Jacob fell through, Riley will have two dialogue options, including “Jacob! Can you hear me?!” or “Are you still alive?!” Choose either of the options and wait to get a walkie-talkie message on channel 9.

After a short wait, Riley will receive a message from channel 9, where the young radio enthusiast can be heard via walkie-talkie. Riley has the options to respond, “This is Riley. Who’s this?” or “Anyone there?” Personally, I chose the former option, but either will work.

Proceed to engage the young radio enthusiast in conversation, until he is interrupted by his mother, who calls him “Jake.” It turns out the mysterious walkie-talkie contact Riley has been speaking with is none other than a younger version of Jacob.

Once the conversation has finished you will receive the silver “He Sounded Familiar…” trophy. If the achievement did not pop, or you can’t get a message from channel 9, quit the game, reload your save, and try again.
