Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth releases on February 29, 2024, and if you’re impatient like me, you’ll be happy to know there’s a demo on PlayStation 5 that takes you through Nibelheim and a portion of the Junon region. Here’s how to download it.

How to Download the FF7 Rebirth Demo on PlayStation 5

To download the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo on PS5, take the following steps:

  • On the Home menu, scroll to the left and click on “PlayStation Store.”
  • Scroll down to “What’s hot.” You should see the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Demo here.
  • Click on it, and five versions of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will appear.
  • Select “FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH DEMO.”
  • Click on “Download Demo.”

You’ll need 49GB free on your PlayStation 5 to be able to install and play the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo. This isn’t exactly a surprise as it does include Nibelheim and some of the Junon region, which gives players an opportunity to explore the game’s vast open world. You won’t be able to play the Junon section until February 21, 2024, though, when an update will allow you to hop into it.

Does Your Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Demo Save Carry Over?

Only the Nibelheim section of the Final Fantasy Rebirth demo will carry over to the full version of the game once it is released on February 29. You’ll be able to skip past the Nibelheim section completely if you finish that section of the demo. According to the PlayStation Store page, the Junon episode has been altered slightly to “make the content more compact” so your progress there won’t carry over.

To sweeten the deal, you’ll also get the Kupo Charm and Survival Set items in the full version if your PS5 detects a demo save on your system. The Kupo Charm is an accessory that increases the amount of certain resources gained when you pick them up, and the Survival Set is a selection of restorative items such as Potions.

If you’re wondering how long the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Demo is, here’s what you need to know.
