How to Dolphin Dive Faster in COD Modern Warfare 2

Master the five D's.

Sliding has been the main movement mechanic for the past few years in Call of Duty, but it takes a back seat in COD Modern Warfare 2. This year, players need to prioritize the dolphin dive if they want to make the most of the movement and get out of bad situations alive.

By default, the slide is the mechanic with a higher priority in the settings and that’s going to hurt your gameplay. Sliding in MW2 isn’t as fast as it used to be and it gives players an ADS penalty. On top of that, it can no longer be canceled. We’ll show you how to give the dolphin dive priority so you can step up your game in Modern Warfare 2.

COD Modern Warfare 2 – How to Dolphin Dive Faster

There is a fairly simple fix in the settings to make your dive faster in MW2. By default, the slide is done by hitting the crouch button when you’re sprinting. This is the circle/B button on controllers or the R3/RS if tactical inputs are used. Dolphin Dives are done by holding the same button for longer in a sprint as well, but of course, that makes the dive take longer.

Within the settings, there is an option to invert the slide and the dolphin dive so that diving is only one press and the slide is a hold. To find this, open up the main menu and scroll over to the gear symbol with R1/RB. Next, open up controller settings and toggle the advanced options. Toward the bottom of the list, under movement behaviors, you’ll find the option to “invert slide and dive behavior.”

Make sure this is set to “inverted” and simply back out of the settings menu. Now your dolphin dive will happen at the click of a button. You’ll certainly need a few matches to get used to the change, so don’t feel ashamed if you go flying out the window when you meant to slide. In no time though, you’ll appreciate the difference in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
