How to Defeat the Garrador in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Who builds an obvious weakness into their killing machine?

Regardless of what your thoughts are on the Resident Evil games, no one can say that the enemies you fight are nothing short of unique. You have your fair share of basic villagers, sure, but what other game has a wolf with tentacles sprouting out of its back (no, Dead Space doesn’t count)? One such enemy comes during the dungeon section of the Castle but can be a confusing one to defeat. Here’s how to defeat the Garrador in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

The Garrador is a fearsome enemy when you first encounter it in the Castle dungeons. It sports some light armor, an extremely muscular physique, and clear signs of insanity through the experiments performed on it. Most importantly, extremely sharp claws line its arms, which can cause serious damage to Leon if he’s not careful.

With that being said, it has a clearly defined weakness. Its eyes have been sown completely shut, forcing it to use its evolved form of hearing to seek out and defeat Leon. That leaves some options since you can move around freely without it knowing where you are. To defeat the Garrador, you’ll want to pull it into an open space with a fair bit of room to move around. While crouched, get behind the Garrador and begin shooting the exposed bit of infestation on its back. This will cause it serious damage and render it immobile for a short while. It may try to attack you, but your best bet will be to move away and try to repeat the process. Do this enough times, and the Garrador will go down.

This won’t be the first time you encounter this enemy in Resident Evil 4 Remake (gameplay spoilers ahead). Later on, you’ll encounter a large room with two Garradors and several enemies you need to take down. If you’re having trouble with this, then you aren’t the only one. What we can suggest is to focus down the regular enemies first, since they’re just going to be a pain in your side throughout the entire fight. Be sure to constantly move around, as to not let both Garradors get you stuck in a corner. With enough patience, all enemies should be taken down.
