How to Find the Graphorn in Hogwarts Legacy

Throughout the Hogwarts Legacy storyline, you’ll face off against trolls, goblin armies and dark wizards looking to halt your progress in thwarting the upcoming goblin rebellion. Along the way, you’ll gain access to various spells, broom flight and even your own Hippogriff mount! Another unique magical beast you’ll encounter during San Bakar’s Trial is the Lord of the Shore, a massive Graphorn who is initially aggressive toward you!

To find and defeat the Graphorn in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll need to progress the story quite a ways until you get to the fourth and final trial. After investigating the coastal mine as part of the Lodgok’s Loyalty quest and talking with the Keepers at the Map Chamber, you’ll gain an objective to meet with the “Lord of the Shore.”

Follow the objective marker on your map, and it’ll point you eastward toward a craggy area in the Clagmar Coast guarded by a lug of a beast. This is the Lord of the Shore, and you’ll need to defeat this Graphorn before you can progress any further. But this big guy can easily wipe out your health with just a few attacks, so be careful!

How to Defeat Lord of the Shore Graphorn in Hogwarts Legacy

To defeat the Lord of the Shore Graphorn, you’ll have to learn its attack patterns and telegraphs. The Lord of the Shore’s main way of attacking is leaping in the air and charging toward you, dealing considerable damage and knocking you off your feet if you don’t dodge.

You can’t Protego against this attack, so prepare your dodge-rolling skills! The Graphorn will often follow this up with a claw swipe attack, which you’ll also have to dodge to avoid taking damage.

The Swift talent is especially handy for this fight, allowing you to teleport away while dodging to gain some distance. If you’re in a ropey situation, you can dash away and heal up or use an Edurus potion to defend yourself. In particular, using an Edurus potion will help you not get stunned by the Graphorn’s attacks, giving you a chance to recover if you miss a dodge.

To help cut down the Lord of the Shore’s health, boulders and barrels are scattered around the fighting arena that you can throw with your ancient magic. While these items don’t stun the beast, they help deal some damage while your spells are on cooldown.

Outside of this, your primary strategy is to cast as many damage spells as possible to bring its health down as quickly as possible. Force and Control spells will have little to no effect on the beast, making it much more helpful to consistently dodge and damage the Graphorn throughout the fight.

Dealing with the Lord of the Shore’s Second Phase

Once you drain half of the Lord of the Shore’s heath bar, it’ll go berserk, inflicting more damage with each hit. Dodging these attacks is even more important to prevent the Graphorn from getting multiple attacks in. Generally speaking, you’ll still want to focus on dodging and aggressively attacking with your damage spells to drain the Graphorn’s health.

Tip:

You won’t need to completely deplete the Graphorn’s health to win the boss battle. You’ll only need to reduce the HP bar by about two thirds in order to defeat the Graphorn.

After you defeat the Lord of the Shore Graphorn, you’ll find one last cutscene of the Graphorn charging toward you, prompting you to kneel or attack the beast. Choosing to kneel leads to the Graphorn stopping its attack, leading to you befriending it and gaining it as a ground mount.
