It is always eerie and unsettling when you first encounter the Masked in Lethal Company, but I assure you that dealing with Masked should not be a problematic encounter. In fact, Masked might be one of the easiest enemies to deal with, especially if you have a coworker nearby.
How to Defeat Masked in Lethal Company
You can defeat the Masked in Lethal Company by smashing it four times with a shovel, stop sign, yield sign, or by shooting it with Nutcracker’s Shotgun. But, there are some strategies you can employ and things you should know about Masked:
The Masked can appear in your runs in two ways:
- When a player picks up the mask from the floor and decides to put it on (conditions apply).
- Within the facility on Titan and Rend (inherently, regardless of whether you put on the mask or not).
The Masked looks just like your regular everyday crewmate, but it has that weird and distinguishable white mask on. It can also put its arms in the front and start running your way to possess you by vomiting red stuff onto you, making you one of the Masked.
Strategies to Beat Masked in Lethal Company
If you don’t have a shotgun and want to engage in melee combat with the Masked, I recommend doing this in long hallways to have enough space to run backward. As you are backpedalling, keep smashing the Masked, but beware, it can randomly start sprinting. So, it might be beneficial to gently tap the sprint button occasionally as you are running away from the Masked, just to give yourself more margin for error. This is similar to how you deal with a Bunker Spider.
If you have a crewmate nearby and you’re dealing with just one Masked, you’ve already won if you have a melee weapon, because the possession animation can be easily interrupted with a melee hit. In this case, you can have one crewmate act as a decoy (or rather, a bait) while following the Masked and bashing it to death. Once a Masked dies, it won’t respawn, and there is no way to end the possession of a crewmate they captured.
If you are at the Terminal and see that your crewmate is moving linearly and constantly spinning, this might be a sign that they got possessed. If you are trying to teleport such a crewmate, be ready with a shovel because you have just invited a Masked on board. That’s the price of recovering the body and reducing the fine for dying on duty.
And yes, Masked can come out of the Facility.
