If you’re hunting for Shiny Pokémon or trying to fill out your Paldean Pokédex, False Swipe is almost necessary, especially if those ‘mon are lower leveled and you’re afraid of knocking them out. We know that feeling all too well. The move allows your Pokémon to do the most damage possible without causing its opponent to faint – perfect for lowering health enough to secure the catch.

You have to unlock the Technical Machine first, though, and luckily for you, we have a guide on just that. Head over to our How to Get False Swipe TM in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet walkthrough to learn how, and come back when you want to start crafting.

Here’s how to make the False Swipe TM057 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and which materials you’ll need for the recipe.

Once you’ve unlocked the move at the TM Machine, you need to get your hands on the materials and League Points (LP) required for crafting it if you want more than the three Jacq gifts you after registering 30 Pokémon in your Pokédex. Thankfully, it’s a simple task and doesn’t take much effort. In fact, you may have them already.

Materials Needed for False Swipe Recipe in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

You need the following resources to be able to craft False Swipe at a TM Machine:

  • 3x Kricketot Shell
  • 3x Chewtle Claw
  • 400 LP

Where to Get Kricketot Shell in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Kricketot spawns in one place in the entire Paldea region, making them easy to track down. Travel to Cortondo in South Province (Area Two) and exit to the olive fields outside of the town.

The Pokémon isn’t a rare spawn, though it appears more frequently at night, so you’ll be able to find the two or three needed to obtain three Kricketot Shells. Simply defeat or catch them to claim their drops.

Where to Get Chewtle Claw in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

As for Chewtle, the snapping turtle-inspired ‘mon isn’t exclusive to just one spawn location. It appears in bodies of water in almost every area except Northern Paldea. We’ve had the most success finding them in:

  • South Province (Area Two)
  • Tagtree Thicket
  • West Province (Area Three)

Like Kricketot, either catch or beat 2-3 of them to obtain the three Chewtle Claws needed to craft the False Swipe TM057.

How to Get LP in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

With the two materials in hand, the final resource you need is 400 League Points. You probably have enough already, but if you’ve been spending them and need more, there are three ways to do so in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet:

  • Beating Wild Tera Type Pokémon (the ones that glow gold in the overworld)
  • Defeating Tera Raid Dens
  • Trading materials at a TM Machine
