Warhammer 40K: Darktide has enough penances to keep you busy for a long while, especially given how difficult they are. Take the Deadeye penance for the Sharpshooter for example, which asks you to kill five highlighted enemies with weakspot attacks using just your weapon’s secondary action. That’s far from easy and takes a lot of luck and precision. Another penance for the Veteran Sharpshooter has been tripping a lot of players up. Here’s how to complete the One in the Chamber penance in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.
How to Finish One in the Chamber in Darktide
The One in the Chamber penance reads “Kill 5 enemies with the last round in your clip during a single Mission on Malice Threat or higher”. With it being on Malice threat, and despite it being only the third of the five difficulties, you’re going to want your Veteran Sharpshooter to be as high of a level as possible before attempting this. The more damage you can output, the higher chance you have of succeeding.
Once you’re ready to attempt this, you’ll need a weapon that can kill five enemies with one shot. We could go back and forth over all of the Veteran’s ranged weapons and which ones can and can’t perform this, though the best one by far is going to be the Combat Shotgun. This is mainly because of a trick you can pull off using its special action, though it’s going to take a little practice in the Meat Grinder.
With the Combat Shotgun equipped, fire it until you’re at the last round of the magazine. Then, fire that last round and quickly press the special action button (Mouse Button 4 by default). If done correctly, you’ll only reload one bullet into the weapon’s magazine. Now, with the special ammo loaded, find a small crowd of enemies, aim at the head level into the center of the crowd, activate Volley Fire, and shoot. If done correctly and close enough, this will kill a few enemies and is likely to score you the One in the Chamber penance.

While far from the most difficult penance in Darktide, this penance requires a lot of knowledge of the game and its systems. Hopefully, other penances don’t bring you this much trouble.
