If you’ve gone to Gravell, you’ve likely met the starry-eyed Ambitious Youth who wants nothing more than to sing for the world. Speaking to him triggers the quest, so here’s how to complete Reaching for the Stars in Octopath Traveler 2.

If you’ve ever gone to karaoke, you’ve likely heard the caterwaul of someone who is absolutely convinced they can sing when they absolutely can’t. All you can do is smile and nod along while hitting your tambourine. Such is the case in the quest of Reaching for the Stars.

Everyone in Gravell knows that the Ambitious Youth can’t carry a note in a bucket, but they’re simply too polite to tell him so. To that end, they refuse to let him go out into the world as a singer. But who are we to stand in the way of a dream?

There’s only one thing to do. For the Ambitious Youth to escape Gravell, we’ll need to knock out the “Villagers”. But this really only refers to three NPCs: the two Villagers standing outside of the inn and the Soldier at the entrance of the village.

To do this, you’ll need to switch the time to night and use Throne’s Path Action Ambush or Castti’s Path Action Soothe. I prefer Throne not only because it takes zero resources, but because she’s so smug when she does it.

Once these three have been knocked out, you’ll get a cutscene with the Ambitious Youth without needing to return to him. He’ll promise that he’ll always remember the “little people” (you) once he achieves stardom.

For your trouble, you’ll get 15,000 leaves and a Gaudy Hat.
