How to Complete Bluejay in Destiny 2

Timed obstacle courses are the bane of my existence

Alright! On to the next memorial. This one is particularly useful because it grants access to the Weekly Neptune bounty and Partition Access. Here is how to complete Bluejay in Destiny 2.

How to Complete Bluejay in Destiny 2

So, we will need to access Bluejay’s old work to figure out what Maelstrom was doing poking around in there. Sounds like a mystery, gang.

Step 1: Speak to Nimbus

Visit Nimbus.

Unfortunately, Quinn does not have high enough security clearance to access Bluejay’s old work. But you know who does? Nimbus. Go talk to them.

Turns out, Bluejay crafted a bit of simulation pocket in the VexNet, which the Cloudstriders were using as a listening post to keep tabs on the Vex. But, with everything that has happened, the Vex have taken control of the space and locked Nimbus out.

We are going to need to craft a Polymorphic Engine in order to crack the lock the Vex have put on the simulation pocket. To do that, we will need their Shellcode samples.

To make that gobbledygook a little more comprehensible: go kill enemies, craft things with their body parts, loot treasure from chest.

Step 2: Defeat combatants in the Vex Incursion Zone

Defeat combatants in the Vex Incursion Zone with a Strand subclass equipped to get Shellcode Fragments and open a Terminal Overload Key Chest to get a Polymorphic Engine.

  • Engine Acquired
  • Fragments Acquired 0/8

To find the Vex Incursion Zone, open up your map and see where the blue and purple diamond icon is on the map. The area this diamond is next to is the Vex Incursion Zone. You can be certain by hovering over the diamond.

Once you are in the Vex Incursion Zone, the hardest thing to do will be getting an Overload Key Chest if you do not already have one. The best way to get these keys is by completing Patrols and Public Events with the Treasure Hunter mod on your Ghost. You will want to open up as many chests as possible. Nearly all my Terminal Overload Keys have been from chests.

When you have a key, take part in a Terminal Overload event and see it to its end in order to unlock the chest that drops from the final boss.

The terminal Overload does not have to be in the Vex Incursion Zone. For the life of me I could not find one in Liming Harbor, but the moment I went to Zephyr Concourse, I found one.

Step 3: Complete the Partition activity

Complete the Partition activity.

  • Partition completed

So, in order to take part in the Partition activity, we will need to go to Liming Harbor. There, in the far bottom/south of the map, will be a Vex portal. It will now be active, and you can make your way through. We will need to clear out the Vex in Bluejay’s sim space.

Approach the Vex Gate and start the mission, Partition: Hard Reset.

I will be honest. Partition: Hard Reset is awful. It is a timed Sparrow obstacle course that requires you to defuse a series of bombs scattered across the level. You can extend the time by killing enemies, but the level is set to always have the enemies +15 power level above your own. It is more efficient to ignore them (unless they’re Psions or Goblins) than to fight them.

Dying while attempting to defuse the bomb will put you back at the checkpoint, which will be right after you end the sparrow section and enter the defuse section. But the dying animation and dying screen all take seconds away from you. Additionally, if you die from a Sparrow explosion, your Sparrow will be on cooldown when you revive. It is not a good time, is what I am saying.

If you are getting close to running out of time, use your Super. But I would recommend saving it for the section with multiple Cyclops and Champions guarding the bomb, which is the last timed section.

After you complete the racing segment, you will face the Demolitionist. The strategy for this boss is to clear out the mobs, then whittle away at his health while moving away from the orbital bombardment, indicated by the red circles that will start burning you alive.

Every time you drop the Demolitionist’s health by a third, you will need to do another short racing section to defuse another bomb. First on the right, then on the left. The only thing to note is that it is a good idea to be at decent health before you make the ride, and the second ramp has a gap. If you fail to make the jump, use Grapple to recover.

Once the Demolitionist is dead, all the other mobs will despawn and the mission will end.

Step 4:  Return to the Hall of Heroes

Return to the Hall of Heroes to repair Bluejay’s memorial.

  • Memorial Restored

Head to the Hall of Heroes and repair the Memorial on the middle right. You will get a little dialogue from Bluejay, and he truly sounds unhinged. But what can you expect from a guy who made a sim space in Vex territory?

Step 5: Return to Quinn

Return to Quinn to discuss the next steps.

  • Archivist visited

Well, at least Quinn was able to get something out of Bluejay’s files. And now she has a lead for us about the Vex mystery. Go visit her.

Apparently, the Vex are looking for the Occlusion and they are tunneling into the CloudArk to retrieve it. That is for the next mission. Press accept and take your reward: a Powerful Engram.
