How Do You Climb Ivy Vines in Monster Hunter Stories 2?

You need a monster that has the Ivy Climb ability to climb Ivy vines in Monster Hunter Stories 2.

You can find Ivy in almost every area in Monster Hunter Stories 2, from the very first expedition you will find yourself on. Unfortunately, though, you don’t encounter a monster with this ability until you reach Kuan Village. Kuan Village is the third area you will visit on your adventure in Monster Hunter Stories 2.

Once you find yourself in Kuan Village around ten or so hours into the game, you will be able to start hunting for a Monstie that can climb. There are a few monsters that can Ivy Climb, most of which are found in the frosty areas around Kuan Village. Here are the ones you will want to keep your eyes peeled for:

  • Congalala – Loloska
  • Kecha Wacha – Loloska
  • Nerscylla – Loloska
  • Tigrex – Lamure

It is worth noting that you will have to do more than just beat any of these monsters in battle to Ivy Climb. You will have to steal one of their eggs from a Nest and hatch it at the Stables. From there, put the monster in your party and set out on your expedition.

Once you come across some Ivy, jump on your Monstie and press the ability button to use your monster’s ability and climb up the wall of vines.

Since there are Ivy Walls in almost every gathering area, it’s a good idea to go back through some of the starting areas and explore them once again. Being able to finally climb the walls of ivy can lead you to all sorts of valuable loot. So, while you may be more tempted to continue with the story, backtracking to check out all the spots you missed will allow you to reap some serious rewards.
