Do you know what’s cute? The soft, squishy faces of axolotls. Do you know what’s even cuter than that? Baby axolotl. If you’re trying to expand your family to include these adorable amphibians, here’s how to breed axolotl in Minecraft.
How to Breed Axolotls in Minecraft
If you’re lucky, you’ve managed to find your own pair of axolotls in lush cave biomes, where these colorful amphibians love to gather around clay blocks underwater. If you’re lucky, you might have even found a pink and blue one. These passive mobs can be picked up in a bucket, which is great, because that’s precisely how we start the breeding process. So, let’s get right into it.
Step 1.
Set up your axolotl’s home. As you might have guessed, axolotl requires water, and you’ll want to ensure that there’s enough of a barrier to keep them from escaping. Once that’s done, scoop up a few wild axolotls in a bucket (you’ll need at least two, I won’t give you the birds and the bees talk, but trust me).
Step 2.
Okay, you’ve set your axolotls up in their new digs. But now what? Well, you’re going to need to set the mood. And nothing says romance like a full stomach and raw fish. Head into the ocean and collect as many tropical fish as possible in a bucket, then feed them to the courting axolotl couple. Once those amphibious beauties start spewing pixelated hearts, you know they’re ready to groove.

Step 3.
Sit back and relax. They’ll take it from here. They breed around once every five minutes, and the little babies they pop out will become adults in 20 minutes. Give them enough time and enough fish, and it’ll stop being Minecraft and start being… CuteAxolotlcraft.
