How to Defeat The Witness in Destiny 2 The Final Shape

The Witness fight in the Destiny 2: The Final Shape Iconoclasm mission is a multi-part fight where players will have to take what they learned in previous missions and apply it in this battle. The process does repeat itself, but with more threats to deal with each time.

The first part has players fighting a Subjugator until its health is low enough to produce a shield. The Witness will also be present to send projectiles to the player, and shooting it is useless as it cannot be directly damaged.

A waypoint will appear behind a yellow barrier, so shoot the floating node to drop the barrier and get the relic shield. Blast the Subjugator’s shield to make it vulnerable, but run to the middle of the battlefield to the glowing light on the ground.

Block with the relic shield while standing on the light to protect yourself from the darkness blizzard. Once finished, kill the Subjugator and it will spawn a Sword of Light. Pick it up and activate the marker that has appeared.

It will take you to a separate with some exposition and three statues. Cut the first statue to be transported back to the battlefield to repeat the process. Players will then have to constantly hit the floating nodes to protect themselves from the darkness in the air, or else receive continual damage.

How to Escape The Witness in Destiny 2 The Final Shape

Slashing the third statue will cause the Witness to wound you with a sliver of health left. Walk forward, pick up the relic shield, and you will have to use your block all the way to the exit. The darkness blizzard will instantly kill you while not blocking.

Thankfully, there is only one narrow path forward with constant light sources to replenish your shield. Reaching the end will trigger the cutscenes and you have completed the initial fight with the Witness,
