How to Beat the Hive Tyrant in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2

Sit down, Tyrant.

There are some bosses in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 that don’t show up in the campaign. Some of the hard ones actually show up in the game’s Operation mode, where there’s a tougher difficulty scaling and a replayable game mode. You’ll encounter your first boss exclusive, the Hive Tyrant, early since it is the second mission, Decapitation. Here’s how to beat the Hive Tyrant in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2.

How to Defeat the Hive Tyrant Boss in Warhammer 40K Space Marine

The Hive Tyrant boss is the last objective and boss of the Decapitation Operation mission. The boss is big and fast and mechanically resembles the Carnifex boss in the campaign. It is fast and uses its sharp claws to attack fast with a wide radius. The Hive Tyrant is also mobile for its size, and it jumps from target to target occasionally.

The Hive Tyrant’s Attack Set

It has two sets of dangerous moves. First, the Hive Tyrant does a melee combo that starts with a target. It does multiple hits, and it can change targets mid-combo if there are other players nearby. You have to pay attention to the block and parry signals, but to play safe, you should always dodge the attacks rather than blocking or parrying.

When the Hive Tyrant is not targeting you, this is the perfect time to deal damage to it. Use fast-shooting weapons like Bolt Carbines or hard-hitting weapons like Multi-Melta. It really depends on what is available in your current class. Here’s a list of the best weapons in Space Marine 2 if you need some more suggestions.

Second, the Hive Tyrant does a pulsating attack that practically covers the whole arena. It emits a greenish wave that deals damage when it reaches you. There’s a visible line on the green wave and you can dodge it by dodging forward as the wave is going to hit you. It does this attack multiple times, so it is best to focus on dodging until the attack ends. This attack is also similar to the Neurothrope boss in the campaign. In a way, the Hive Tyrant is like a hybrid of the Neurothrope and Carnifex boss.

Once you master these two attacks or phases, you can easily defeat the Hive Tyrant. This Decapitation mission is actually one of the best ways to level your classes in Operations mode. The mission is short, and you can spam the mission to get a lot of experience points, assuming you don’t get sick of finishing the same mission over and over again.
