The last thing standing between you and the rank of Blood Acolyte is a guy with more than a sprinkle of pretensions. Here’s how to defeat Cameron in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
How to Defeat Cameron at Queen’s Blood in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth – Tips & Tricks
Queen’s Blood is a card game that has the cityfolk in an absolute chokehold. And for good reason, it’s really fun. But to climb the Queen’s Blood ranks, you must defeat Cameron, the Cruor of Queen’s Blood.
To find Cameron, you must complete the side quest When Words Won’t Do in Under Junon. You can get this side quest by going to the community board outside of the Fish’s Net Tavern and then speaking to Rhonda outside of the inn. Once that quest is completed, you’ll gain access to the eastern part of Junon, where the Crow’s Nest is located. Cameron is in town, just to the south of the Crow’s Nest community board, inside the ruined building.
Cameron is a rank 4 Queen’s Blood Player, and his deck consists of the following cards:
Card | Ability |
---|---|
Zu | No card abilities |
Deathwheel | When played, lower the power of allied and enemy cards on affected tiles by 3. |
Security Officer | No card abilities |
Riot Trooper | No Card abilities |
Capparwire | When played, lower the power of allied and enemy cards on affected tiles by 1. |
Archdragon | When played, lower the power of enemy cards on affected tiles by 3. |
As you can see, he runs an interesting gimmick. If his cards have an ability, that ability is to lower the power of enemy or allies’ cards on the affected tiles. But Cameron can easily be countered. The best way to counter Cameron is to refuse to let him have any space on the board.
The best way to do this is to control two lanes simultaneously. To do this, you need cards that take up tiles both horizontally and vertically and push outward. Cards that do this are:
- Grassland Wolf – Default card in your deck.
- Mandragora – Purchasable from Thorin’s Card Shop in the Grasslands or from the Item Vendor in Kalm.
- Cactuar – Won from Nene in Kalm.
- Crystalline Crab – Won from Ned in Kalm.
- Chocobo & Moogle – Won from Thorin in the Grasslands.
- Titan – Purchasable from Thorin’s Card Shop in the Grasslands.
- Hell Rider II – Purchasable from the Vending Machine in the Crow’s Nest.
- Security Officer – Part of your default deck.
- Levrikon – Part of your default deck.
- Riot Trooper – Purchasable from Thorin’s Card Shop in the Grasslands or from the Item Vendor in Kalm.
Each of these cards will build on the line they’re placed on and above or below where they’re placed. By doing this, you can creep into Cameron’s space. If Cameron plays a card that changes one of your green pawns to red, you can use the second row to counter his red pawn and turn it back to green. You can cut off his growth by aggressively pushing the front and then building backward on the pawns you placed earlier.
You should prioritize cards that only need one pawn for this strategy. You won’t have the ability to build powerful cards in the first four moves, but you won’t need them. Here are the cards I used to destroy Cameron:
Card | How to Obtain | Ability |
---|---|---|
Grassland Wolf | Part of your default deck | No card ability |
Mandragora | Purchasable from Thorin’s Card Shop in the Grasslands or from the Item Vendor in Kalm. | When played, add Mandragora Minion to your hand. |
Cactuar | Won from Nene in Kalm. | Raise the power of allied cards on affected tiles by 3 while this card is in play. |
Crystalline Crab | Won from Ned in Kalm | Raise the power of allied cards on affected tiles by 2 while this card is in play. |
Chocobo & Moogle | Won from Thorin in the Grasslands. | Raise power by 1 for each other enhanced allied card. |
Zemzelett | Won from Zogan in Under Junon on the coast. | Raise the power of allied cards on affected tiles by 3 while this card is in play. |
Shiva | Won from Isabelle in the Fish’s Net in Under Junon. | When played, spawn Diamond Dust of power 2, 4, or 6 in empty positions. |
Titan | Purchasable from Thorin’s Card Shop in the Grasslands | When played, raise position ranks by 2. |
Hell Rider II | Purchasable from the Vending Machine in the Crow’s Nest | When played, lower the power of enemy cards on affected tiles by 3. (Ideal as a finisher if you can manage it, but still a powerful card no matter where you put it). |
Other cards I recommend are those I’ve listed above. Security Officer will let you increase your power behind, but can require a bit of planning, while Levrikon can give you one extra point. If you don’t know who Thorin is but want to get many of the great cards he’s peddling, you’ll need to complete the side quest, A Rare Card Lost.
You may find that the board doesn’t always work out in your favor. Perhaps Cameron utilizes the same strategy, or you can’t get the cards to work in your favor. If that’s the case, press pause and then rematch to try again. And once you defeat him, you’ll get Midgarsormr, a card that really speaks to Cameron’s playstyle, a new rank, and an unhinged cutscene.
