How to Adopt Animals in Fire Emblem Engage

Collecting animals > collecting units

Every game can be improved with pets. Something about having a soft, fluffy critter to return to after the horrors of war just soothes the soul the way nothing else can. And if you want to acquire a small, fluffy, feathery group of friends for yourself, here’s how to adopt animals in Fire Emblem Engage.

How to Adopt Animals in Fire Emblem Engage

Look, I’ll be honest. I’m a huge sucker for animals. Pretty much everyone is. And Fire Emblem Engage allows you to gather a significant number of animals in the Farmyard of the Somniel. This Farmyard can hold an impressive amount of critter and their species range from the mundane to the more unusual.

So, how do you get your hands on them? Well, the answer is… it depends.

The ability to adopt animals is unlocked after you complete Chapter 4. Once that story mission is done, you’ll then get an on-screen notification telling you that you can adopt animals. You’ll then be given the opportunity to roam around, pick up items (like Bond Fragments), speak to your party (who can give you Bond Fragments), and, most importantly, interact with any animal you might stumble across.

Once you find an animal and interact with it, you’ll be given a prompt to adopt it. Press A to do so… and congrats! That adorable fluff is now yours.

But it’s possible you’ll run into a few animals that will resist being integrated into your growing animal army. Animals that not only provide the joy of their presence but resources, too. For example, if you want a Marmot? You better increase the Brodia donation level.

In my opinion, animals are a fantastic way to mark your progress through your game, and an excellent incentive to increase your relationships with other countries.

Good luck finding your perfect animal friend!
