How Much Space Does CoD: MW3 Require? – Answered

Before you purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, you’ll need to either purchase some extended storage for your console of choice, or clear up nearly 250 GB of space. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 takes up a staggering 240 GB on either Xbox or PlayStation 5 while taking up nearly 150 GB of space on PC. Where those extra 100 GB are coming from is uncertain, but it’s likely due to 4K textures being used on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

With consoles launching with 1TB of internal storage, this takes up nearly 1/4 of the total space on your system, so prepare to delete some games that you’ve been sitting on if you’re hoping to keep this one installed for a while.

Thankfully, if you’re only interested in specific parts of the game, such as the Campaign or the multiplayer aspects, you can install individual portions of the game to save some extra space. For example, the Campaign takes up around 52GB of space on the Xbox family of consoles, so you can reduce the overall install size by a fair margin if you don’t plan on playing through it. According to our COD expert Dan Wenerowciz, you may not need to give it much thought after all.

No matter if you plan on installing a new SSD to help with the large install size, or you’re just going to do some fall cleaning on your system of choice, make sure you’re up to date with all things Call of Duty by checking out our Modern Warfare 3 section below.
