If you’re like us and wondering how many Final Fantasy VII Remake parts there will be in total, you’re not alone. Apparently, even the devs are having the same conundrum because they aren’t set on a total output as well. That being said, it looks like the remake adventure could be much longer than we thought if producer Yoshinori Kitase has his way.

Kitase recently opened up about the current plan in action in the Final Fantasy VII Remake Ultimania book, with a translation provided by the Twitter user seen below. In the translation, he mentioned that he actually doesn’t know how many parts are planned and that decision boils down to how they want to release the future parts of this story:

At this time, the current speculation is that the Final Fantasy VII Remake will now be three parts, which is one more than the originally planned two-parter adventure. Now he’s saying that the three parts may be extended because it all depends on how the team decides to divvy up the story. On one hand, Kitase mentioned that they could release bigger installments to match up with the first part, but that means a long wait time in between releases. Kitase also mentioned that he hopes to release the next part ASAP, which indicates the other option that he offered: quick-fire releases with much shorter chunks of story.

While the end-goal would be the same no matter what with the storyboard in place, the launch schedule could change depending on how they feel is the most appropriate way to proceed. Do they release a ton of parts for a lesser cost in favor of a quicker release schedule, or do they take their time and have a much more concise drop plan? It seems that that decision is still very much being mulled over and the fanbase seems divided on which one they would prefer.

Personally, I loved how the first felt like a whole game in itself and I would love the final parts to feel the same, so I would be willing to wait. That being said, the ending of the first part was a doozy so I can absolutely understand why people wouldn’t mind smaller segments if it meant having the next part sooner.

It will be interesting to see how they plan to continue the story, especially with PC and Xbox One releases rumored to be in the near future. Which method of release would you prefer for the Final Fantasy VII Remake parts? Sound off with what you hope they decide over on Twitter @PrimaGames
